Blue Coast - Bouches du Rhone
The Provence Côte Bleue
Martigues is the largest town along the Côte Bleue, the little Venice of Provence as it's known locally due to the little canals and waterways that traverse the town. The town itself boasts a broad and wide spectrum of sporting and leisure facilities not withstanding the many fine restaurants. Carro and La Couronne are two small villages on the fringe of Martigues. The small harbour of Carro offers a fresh fish market dail- the produce of a hard nights work by the local fishermen. Wedged between the two is the wonderful large sanded beach, enclosed on each side by the enchanting Provence rockface.
Sausset les Pins in another small harbour village , with the harbour and restaurants being the focal point of the small community. Sausset les Pins offers a wonderful coastline, a charming promenade to walk off a heavy diner or for the more sports minded inclined a haven for wind surfers. Carry le Rouet is perhaps the jewel that sparkles the brightest, again the focal point of this exquisite village. The charming harbour offers a lively setting with many eatery and casino surrounding the vast rock and stone harbour. Across the clear blue waters the skyline of Marseille offers a wonderful backdrop. |
